Fall Family Session with Older Kids, Totally Worth It

If it’s been a while since your last family photo session because your kids are no longer “little,” let me remind you of something important, mama these photos are just as meaningful now as they were when your babies were tiny.

Family sessions with older kids often get pushed aside. Life gets busy, schedules get complicated, and before you know it, years pass without updated photos together. But this season of life deserves to be documented just as much.

This past fall, a mama reached out wanting updated family photos during the holidays, knowing her oldest would soon be heading off to college. That realization alone made this session incredibly meaningful. While many of the families I photograph have young children, I was so excited to bring her vision to life and create something timeless for this stage of motherhood.

We planned this fall family session in El Paso, Texas, choosing the Border Patrol Museum with its beautiful views overlooking the Franklin Mountains - a perfect location for a sunset family session. Together, we also coordinated outfits to ensure everyone felt confident, comfortable, and truly themselves.

The result? A relaxed, joy-filled family session that captured connection, laughter, and the love that comes from years of growing together.

Take a look below at this fun and heartfelt family photo session with older kids, and let this be your sign that it’s never too late to document your family — no matter their age.

If you’re considering updated family photos with older kids or teens, I’d love to help you plan a session that feels natural, meaningful, and true to your family.
